Partnering with experienced capitalists, we support and invest in companies from inception, leveraging university research and technology seeds, and provide growth support.
Carve-Out

Managing a JPY 25.6 billion fund, we facilitate carve-outs through parent company negotiations, business planning, and post-carve-out growth support.

Value-Up Support

For each portfolio company, a dedicated lead and sub-lead capitalist serve as the main points of contact, providing hands-on support from business development and partnerships to exit. In addition to the assigned capitalists, we also offer specialized, practical assistance from highly experienced experts. Our structure enables us to respond flexibly—from casual consultations to on-the-ground execution support—to help companies realize their potential.

Strategic Planning & Business Development Support

We provide comprehensive support for refining business plans and developing strategies for business growth. In addition, we assist with strategic execution, from coordinating PoC with domestic and international partner companies to managing business alliances and capital partnerships.
HR Support

Through UTokyo IPC’s original Talent-matching platform, DeepTech Dive, we connect startups with top talent. In addition, we support the entire hiring process—from recruitment and organizational strengthening to improving personnel costs—helping portfolio companies meet their HR needs strategically and effectively.
PR Support

We provide end-to-end PR support, from developing PR roadmaps to executing PR content strategies and media relations, ensuring portfolio companies have the tools and guidance to communicate effectively with the market.

DeepTech Dive

A closed Talent-matching Platform where UTokyo IPC’s portfolio and supported companies—primarily in the tech and deep tech sectors—connect with professionals, students, and researchers interested in startups.

Open to those seeking full-time, part-time, or internship opportunities, aspiring executives, and anyone wishing to learn about the latest university technologies. Operated by UTokyo IPC to promote entrepreneurship and talent exchange around universities, the platform is free of charge.

Offices

In collaboration with the University of Tokyo and our partners, we provide office space and hub support for startups.

1stRound BASE in HiRAKU GATE: Serving as a community hub for academia-related startups supported and invested in by UTokyo IPC, HiRAKU GATE opened in August 2023 within the new headquarters building of SHINKOSHUPPANSHA KEIRINKAN Co,ltd. in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. Located near the University of Tokyo, the building’s 3rd to 10th floors are offered to startups. It functions as an innovation base for deep tech startups around the University of Tokyo, where UTokyo IPC also has its office.

1stRound BASE in HiRAKU GATE

Incubation Facilities Provided by the University of Tokyo: The University of Tokyo operates and manages incubation facilities for startups and individuals aiming to commercialize the university’s research and educational outcomes and contribute to society.
Tenants are selected through a review committee composed of the University of Tokyo’s Division for University Corporate Relations, UTokyo Innovation Platform Co., Ltd. (UTokyo IPC), and The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners Co., Ltd. (UTEC).
