About the “Global Startup Campus” Initiative
The “Global Startup Campus” initiative is a key component of the Japanese government’s Five-Year Startup Development Plan, led by the Cabinet Office. It seeks to build an internationally competitive startup ecosystem through world-class talent development and commercialization programs. The initiative aims to address challenges faced by Ph.D. holders and early-career researchers in Japan, such as limited access to global networks, scarce connections with overseas VCs, and lack of commercialization know-how. By overcoming these barriers, the program seeks to position Japan as a global hub for startups.
